Privacy Policy for Milan

Milan ("we", "our", "the app") is a location-based social discovery and messaging app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Milan, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Account & profile information

• Name, username, date of birth / age, gender
• Profile details you choose to add: about/bio, position, body type, height, weight
• Phone number and/or email address used to sign in, plus an optional secondary contact number
• Profile photos and any images you save to send in chats

Location

• Your precise device location (or a location you manually set on the map), used to show you people nearby and to show your approximate distance to others
• You control whether your distance and discoverability are shared with other users, at any time, from Settings

Chats & activity

• Messages and media you send and receive within the app
• Presence information (online status, last-active time) — visible to others only if you choose to share it
• App usage such as likes, matches, and reward points

Device & technical data

• A push-notification token, used only to deliver your notifications
• Basic device/app information needed to operate the service and show ads (where applicable)

Payment information

• If you purchase a Premium subscription, payment is processed by our payment partner (Razorpay). Milan does not store your card or bank details — we only keep a record of the subscription plan, amount, and payment status.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To create and operate your account and profile
• To show you relevant people nearby and power search/discovery
• To enable messaging, notifications, and real-time presence
• To process Premium subscription purchases and reward redemptions
• To keep the community safe — reviewing reports and blocks
• To improve app performance and reliability

3. Who We Share Information With

Limited data is shared only with the service providers that power the app:

• Google Firebase — authentication, database, file storage, push notifications, and crash/analytics infrastructure
• Google AdMob — shows optional rewarded video ads (only if you choose to watch one to earn points)
• Razorpay — processes Premium subscription payments
• OpenStreetMap (Nominatim) — converts coordinates to a readable place name for the map picker

Other users of Milan can see the profile information and content you choose to make visible (e.g. your name, photos, distance, online status) based on your privacy settings.

4. Your Choices & Controls

• Privacy settings — control who sees your online status, last-seen time, and distance; browse Nearby invisibly if you wish
• Block — instantly stop any user from contacting or seeing you
• Report — flag a user or content for our team to review; reports are anonymous
• Notifications — mute all or specific notification types at any time
• Account deletion — permanently delete your account, profile, and photos from within the app. See our Delete Your Account page for exactly what is deleted and what is retained.

5. Data Security

Access to your data is protected by authenticated, per-user security rules on our backend — other users and the public cannot read data they aren't authorized to see. Screenshots and screen recording are blocked within the app to help keep your conversations private.

6. Children's Privacy

Milan is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor is using the app, please contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

7. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your profile, photos, and ranking data are permanently removed from our systems immediately. Messages you've sent remain visible to the people you spoke with (the same way deleting your account on any messaging app doesn't erase chats on the other person's device), and payment records are kept as required for financial record-keeping. 8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Milan after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
